these are normally found in FRA, but you need to be lucky too! So I am LUCKY!

Guess what is this?

Relaxed monkey, even ignore us when we tried to take picture!

Okay, commentary is part of our jobs! Yaya, is hard for me, as if in ENGLISH, i was wondered how am I gonna complete the task! Luckily there is no too much of foreigner apply for this service. Oops..
Well, for anyone who would like to challenge us, please leave your messages here, and if I dare to reply you please give me an applause! XD

Well, for the last few weeks, we were lead by few commentators who shared their experience and knowledge of FRA or even their thoughts. So, maybe we can some of their funny stories and life experiences over here.

Commentary is not tough to someone if you love nature and well prepared. Like me, I was once to introduce those trees to a small auntie group. That experience was fun but it kick me up from nice dream! I should learn more or maybe memorize more those stories and knowledge.. Haha.. loading the works in my life but I prefer this life with relaxed works than nothing to do in office! Shhh... we always try to 'rest awhile' after lunch. Guys, that is so hard to focus your works after lunch and hot weather! XD

Stay tune for next! Will share some of nice commentary stories to you soon~

A Trip to the Top of the World

"T-t-t-to the top of the world!
Boy you know you get me highh."

-Cataracs Ft. Dev

A collection of various plant seeds

A few days ago, Kai Ling Jie took us to visit one of her friends whose nickname is Shan Zhu, which translates to Mountain Pig in English. Shan Zhu owns a B&B that is quite well-known around the area. From a first glance, the B&B seems messy with random stuff all over the place, which includes but not limited to numerous comic book series, two guitars, three cats, and collections of plant seeds. But after looking a second time, it’s hard not to come to like the unique character that this house holds.

My first thought looking out the window was "Wow, what a
beautiful view!"
which was quickly followed by
"Oh crap... that
hill sure looks steep..."
when I looked over the side and realized
how easy it would be to tople over with one wrong turn. Hahaha...
After Shan Zhu had shared some very delicious black tea with us, he took us on a trip to the top of a mountain nearby. I am, once again, impressed at how well Taiwanese people drive their cars. I am not sure how the Chinese in Canada got the reputation of "bad drivers" because it honestly takes a lots of skills to maneuver through the narrow and crowded roads of Taiwan or to drive up small mountain roads as Shan Zhu had. He literally ripped up that mountain in 20 minutes at about 40km/h. Now, that might not seem so fast but it's quite fast when we're going up a tiny steep one-lane winding road in a mini van that could be as old as me. Not only that, Shan Zhu managed to turn at the exact moments without stopping or slowing. With the confidence and the seemingly minimal effort that he put into the drive, it looked like he might as well as had only been driving down an empty 3 lane highway!

Left: What the road looked like by the end. By that point, we had to
close the windows to avoid being hit by the trees
Right: The mini van that got us safely to our destination!

When we finally arrived at the top, the view was breathtaking. From that height, we could see all of Taitung city, its surrounding areas, and also the Jhihben area. In all the years that I had lived in Taiwan and all the times that I had visited after moving to Canada, I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a view that wasn’t completely urbanized like most of Taiwan. The lack of dense city lights and high skyscrapers were a refreshing change from Taichung and Taipei.

Shan Zhu mentioned that he wanted to share this beautiful place with the rest of the world but he also wanted to be selfish and keep it to himself. His explanation for this contradiction was that he wants everyone to come see this beautiful place that holds such importance to him but he is also afraid that its beauty will be destroyed if it becomes a popular tourist attraction area like Shi Ling. Understanding this, I hope that in the future, others can still see the same view that I saw and that it has not not been corrupted and tainted by urbanized cities and their lights.

The view of Taitung City taken over about an hour.

Love, KHou

The trail that I ever stepped on it! It is hard for the first few steps, but the scenery did ease our tiredness!

Okay, JBNFRA is JhihBen National Forest Recreation Area. This is the abbrevietio
n that I gave to this area. hehe...So after this, will either to JBNFRA or FRA to describe this area!

The moment I stepped in this area, I was shocked! yeah, I was shocked, because of this place doesn't look exactly like what it showed in pictures (website) ! This is the first time I felt that pictures did bluff me. FRA is enormous with 1100 hectare! It doesn't look like a small park. With a short tour guide by our TN managers, all of us have the general ideas toward this area.

Plants, animals, bugs and reptitles.. I'm in the forest now! I remember one of my friends do tell me this, please take care yourself! Don't let the bear have the chance to bite u.. =.=lll  Oh Nate... So this was the first day when I went to FRA.

The next day, a tedious day to me! Well, we need to know the trails in FRA, at least we need to walk every trails for once!
Map of the FRA

First trail for us was the longest trail! From Brave Man Trail to Banyan Trail to Scenery Trail! It required 3 hours ++ to finish, for a normal man. But for us, 1 guy, 1 girl and 1 auntie, we took 4 hours ++ to complete it! Well, I should declare that Guo jie and I were the one who move the slowest! You can't let an old woman alone, am I right? XD.. So with this longest trail I ever had, my legs' muscle pain for 3 days! Maybe I should train myself for the other trails before it is too late!

Okay, finish crapping, let's share some thoughts toward FRA. During the long journey, again I found myself fall in love with Jhihben or Taitung. This place is so beautiful! With intact mountains and coastline, you dare not to destroy anything over there. That is so sinful if you really did.

Love the nature with your bare hand. Do not throw the rubbish in the mountain or any places. Pick rubbish up whenever you saw it on the trail. Our mother nature is calling for us, to preserve and conserve our beloved Earth.

My very first time!

6 hours journey from Taipei to Taitung!

The buddies that I knew in Taiwan, so glad to know them
                                                             and appreciate their helps!

Green grass, breezy~ Start to love this place~
Weird but beautiful rocks! Amazing with the nature artworks!

Hehe.. this is the first blog with Mandarin and English version that I ever had! Besides this is my very first time to travel alone, settle myself in an unfamiliar place and travel with different kind of transport within this 2 months! Feel so lucky that I chose to join this intern project, will never feel regret after this!

I reached Taiwan earlier than the date of project to be started. The more days you stay in an unfamiliar place mean you will spend more! This really happened to me.. Poor wallet.

Anyway, before I started my intern, I went to Luye GaoTai and Xiao YeLiu which you can take the public bus with a little money to reach there! This is suitable for those who would like to have short but relax trip! So if anyone want to reach there and need information, please do not hesitate to ask me! Though I might not know everything about them, will try to figure out for  you~ ^^

Erm, my first post, it doesn't relate anything to my work, right? Don't worry, there will be a lot to share after this! Stay tune!
